Delco Electronic Distributor

Postby FI Spyder » 02 Sep 2018 15:38

Does any one know the model of the Delco electronic distributor used in the California 1980 and USA 1981 TR7's? My distributor retaining clips are rusty and I'd like to replace them before they rust off (first time I've ever seen rusty distributor retaining clips but that must have been a BL requirement). I haven't been able to see anything like them on a Google search. I'd like to take them off and derust them but a little weary of breaking them even though they appear to be just spring clipped to the distributor. If I had the model number I might be able to narrow it down.

Hi FI-Spyder,

i have a collection of some data from the TR7 with and without FI-engines.
The numbers for the USA with FI-engines and Delco Remy electronic ignition distributors are:

-Triumph part number RKC 3773
-Series D302
-Delco Remy part number 9977120

for 1981 " Low compression Engine"

-Triumph part number RKC 5525
-Series D308
-Delco Remy part number 9977370

I would maintain the retainig clips on the Delco Remy distributors are all
equal but don't know if it is availible as a single spare part.
I wish you much success to find some or with refurbish the old ones.
At least i may have a pair , when you don't succeed.

regards
Roger27TBB :)

Picture of the AC Delco electronic distributor. I ran this one on my TR7 with the Lucas AB14 amplifier.

Part number is D302 9977254

The caps are the same as a normal points D302 distributors so the clips must be the same as well. There must be plenty of old D302s out there with good clips, they were used on lots of Vauxhall models as well.
