by what did you replace the original lucas relays?
what brand?
what reference?

Rimmers use the original drawings from the TR7 parts book on their website. This webpage shows the diagram for the relays etc behind the dashboard. https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID006242

I think the relay you're after is likely to be DRC1820 as that makes up 4 out of the 5 circular relays in the diagram but Rimmer Bros, S&S, Robsport, or James Paddock will know better. I've only had to replace one relay and that was over 15 years ago. Googling the part number might bring up an equivalent item.....like this Land Rover part. https://www.lrdirect.com/DRC1820-Rly/

I replace bloody Lucas relays with anything I can!

I always nick the relays from old/butchered wiring looms that get thrown away.
So far in (nearly) 30 years of TR7 driving I had one relay fail (it was 25 years old at the time)...
I replaced it with an aftermarket Bosch item, which blew up almost immediately.
Since than I always carry a few 2nd hand Lucas spares ...

The only relay I have replaced was the starter relay which was shot when I bought the car - in 2006. It was pretty expensive for a relay but I could not get one anywhere except the known TR7 suppliers. Never had a problem with any of the others or that one since.

The original triumph reference is UKC2416 (i.e. DRC1820)
The Rimmers replacement is DRC1820A

thank you for your response, but I misunderstood my question.
I know it's the DRC1820, but I just wanted to know if we can replace it with contemporary basic.

I took my 32 year old Lucas starter relay apart because I was having starter problems. It was like new inside, put it back together and put heat sink on it reseal it. That was 5 years ago still working like new (problem was loose battery clamp to big red wire connection). Lucas all the way. Replaced my Delco brake light switch with Lucas.
