Mystery Screw and EGR Hose

Postby JSutton1 » 19 Mar 2008 02:12

Two more TR7 questions.

Please see my photos (I dont know how to insert them yet).

1. What does this screw do? How do I adjust? Not in any of my docs on Stromberg carbs.

2. Were should I be connecting my ignition and EGR hoses? Docs show a vac connection on the front of each carb. I only have one on the left carb. How is yours connected?

That screw is the idle adjusting screw and it is important for the carburetor settings adjustment.

The hose for the EGR valve connects at the barb fitting on the rear carburetor. As memory serves, there was also a metal flame trap bewteen the elbow and the small vinyl hose that ran to the EGR valve.

As for tuning the carburetors, please review our latest offering.

The vacuum advance hose connects at the barb fitting underneath the front carburetor.

Thanks Mildred.

Are you sure about the screw? When you step on the accellerator pedal, the screw drops down and allows a shaft to move on the side of the carb. None of the books I have a the carbs identify this screw.

I did look under the front carb and there was a vac port there althought it looks like it is a larger diameter that the vac port. Think that is a problem?

Also I dont have the flame arrestors. Think I can go w/o them?
