John,

Agreed about the guys at S & S. Just wish they weren't so far away.

I always fancied a roll bar. I'm close to 6'2" so have the seat a far way back. Does the roll bar restrict the seat movement at all?

Many years ago I bought a smart blue tonneau cover from S & S. Have you had to cut yours around the roll bar mountings?

Cheers,

Adam

Hi Adam,
Will let you know about the hight thing when i put the seats back in at the weekend i am 6 feet plus in my heals [:0]!,got mine of fleabay way less than half price and still in wrapper. Easy to fit except one bolt that mounts on rear deck, cant get to put a nut on as fuel tank in the way [V] [:(!] Will have to work on that one and it wont invole taking tank out!!
I beleive you need to 'adapt' the tonneua cover but mine is well past its best so will replace it with one already cut.
As for guys at S+S cant fault them as you wish they were closer,200+ miles is a long way for a natter on a Saturday morning!
Cheers John

Adam,my bar does'nt restrict seat movement at all.You will have to
buy a shaped cover unless your good with scissors and needles!
The downside to fitting one,is that it restricts rear vision, esp.
with hood up.

John,

I have the same roll bar fitted to my 8, I have made a couple of changes to the mounting, Ie welded in captive nuts for the lower mounting area. If it helps you are very welcome to look at mine I am based in Essex.

Cheers

Hi Ian,
Thank you very much for the offer [:D] That is exactly how Steve from S+S Prep told me to do it. Had a good long look at it and decide rather than weld used 'rivnuts' instead, if anyone not sure what they are then click on the link-
http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/FASTE ... index.html
I have had a gun for ages and supply of rivnuts that we use at work, guess i am getting lazy in my old age [^] but seamed easyier than welding and grinding.
Guess how the one which requires the tank to be removed will be held in[?] Yep rivnut!!
Once again Ian thank you very much for the offer and would love to see your cars sometime anyway.
Cheers John.

Great,

Rivnuts are a really good way and you have saved so much time by not having to take the tank out!! - although If you do take the tank out at any time I would beef up the area area under the parcel shelf just in case you do need to use the Rollbar for what it is designed to do, this will just give a bit more strength.

You have helped me too - I have been looking for somebody who supplies heatproof covering for wiring (where the mains cable from the battery to the starter motor runs very close to the exhaust pipes) they have some stuff that will do just the job!

I think the rollbars look really good when fitted and they help to stiffen up the car a little too.

Cheers

Ian

Hi Steve,
The rivnuts i used on the side are 8mm thread size (get them from work) fitted with stainless steel bolts. The nuts and bolts on the rear deck are 10mm also stainless.
Just found this place they seem to carry a good range-
