Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

Cleaning USA Spec Bumpers??

Postby john 215 » 26 Oct 2007 12:11

Hi,
I brought a set of second USA spec bumpers this morning from Robsport, the rear is fine however the front is slightly marked, poss by leaning against a white fence post and some of the paint has rubbed off. Have tried soapy water no joy [:(]. Just wondered what you guys over the other side of the pond (or anyone else) uses to clean or cover marks up with.
Thanks for any advice,
Cheers John.

They're painted? both my '7's had hard rubber like bumpers. I've been told you can sand them, so you might be able to use a buffing compound of them as well..Personally I'd wait until somebody who knows what they're talking about respsonds haha..

Son of a .... THATS gonna leave a mark!

I sanded mine and painted them with a satin flexible bumper coat paint. When I get the occasional scuff, I just sand lightly and touch up with the paint.

John, your's are black and some white paint has rubbed off on them, right?

Clean them with some acetone followed by Meguiars Vinyl/Rubber Protectant. Spray on let set for a few minutes and wipe well to spread.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply's gentlemen. Off down to Helfords to ssee what potions they have in store!
Frank would love to come Switzerland to pick up bumper [:D] what a lovely part of the world you live in,apart from the lack of motorsport! Having said that the Top Fuel European drag racing champ is from your part of the world ,Urs Erbacher and his Fat Attack team. Not to mention UK fuel at 99.9 pence a litre [:0] [V][:(!] !!!
Thanks Again Guys,
Cheers John.
