BONNET STAY HAVE I GOT THE RIGHT FIXING BOLTS?????

Hi all just wondered by looking at the pics ive put on have i got the right bolt to fix the actual bonnet stay to the the turret?? it seems a little small thats all.

Anyway any help with this would be great.

Steve,you do not need the nut.Push jack nut into hole in the turret,
put a washer on bolt and put it through hole in stay,then screw into
jack nut.As it tightens the jack nut collapses under pressure(a bit
like me!)and rivets itself to turret.Just check its the correct bolt by lightly screwing into the jack nut,if it dont thread,it aint the
right one!

p.s.you should have two bolts the same for bonnet fixing,one other
for turret.

Many thanks Paul, i have the correct bolts for fixing to the bonnet, but i think the bolt that goes into the turret itself, is too small in lenght. any pics of what it should look like?? or is it similar to look at as this one only longer.

I think the bolt im lookin for to place i the jack nut in the turret to hold the bonnet stay in place is no longer available to order ar Rimmers at least, any suggestions guys where i might be able to pick one up??

I assume that you think it is not long enough as the threaded section of the bolt might not reach the thread in the jacknut. You could try using a similar plain bolt to pull the jacknut in before fixing the strut with the shouldered bolt.

Like Pual says you don't need the nut but I think there should be a washer in there.

I should think that any of the specialist TR7 suppliers might have a used bolt. You could also try:

Triumphland
Bankwood Lane
Rossington
Doncaster
DN11 0PS

These guys were recommended to me by one of the specialists (sorry can't remember which one now)who could not help me with what I wanted at the time. I have had a couple of small used parts from them & they have been fine. Might be worth a call if no one else can help?

That makes things clear!
My car doesn't have the jack nut installed, just some bojack arrangement devised by a PO.
Here's a question...Mine is a very early car and has a slotted rail on the side of the inner wing to accept a bonnet prop rod. The bracket is still on the bonnet for the rod, but no rod.
I know it would be a step back to install the rod but if it should be there I just may do it...for shows if nothing else.
Has anyone seen a prop rod used on an early car?

Odd,top marks,mate.You clearly see the 'bigger picture' when the rest
of us can't see the 'wood for the tree's'.
Steve,double check you got the correct stay(i dont know if its the
same length as boot stay,as i got those ram things)if ya got it from
Rimmers,it may well be wrong!!

Hi Many thanks Guys i have doubled check and it is def the right stay for the from, all i did was clean the thing back up, althoigh why they took the jack nut etc out to begin with is a mystery to me.

Many thanks all, it now appears that i have a boot stay not a bonnet stay after all, is there much diference? i know they are both same lenght.

Well, the two stays in my car are different. Not even similar in technical detail...

The bonnets stay is 477mm top to bottom edge (when upright and in lock).
The boots stay is 504mm top to bottom edge (when upright and in lock).

I'm interested in buying the entire kit from you - if you don't want it!
Since my dad's TR7V8 needs a complete boot stay kit to replace the stick (and gas struts) used currently...
