Pektron unit fire

Had a bit of an experience with my 78 today, went to flash my lights when driving, the lights started to come up, then stopped and smoke started to pour from the glovebox.
managed to get out and disconnect the battery, (luckily i have a quick connect terminal) and found that the smoke was from the pektron unit. after i disconnected the unit and connected the battery again the lights went back down but still work fine on the main headlight switch.

after looking through the wiring diagram i believe that the pektorn unit is just used for the headlight flash, so i cant see any reason to get a new unit for the moment. am I correct? apart from having to flash my lights by using the main light switch instead of just the stalk switch?.

also I have tried to use the search function a few times now, and just get error 'ASP 0113'server timed out message. never had a problem before, any ideas

Probably a good idea to make sure that no melting of plastic has deformed anything - i.e. so contacts touch now that didn't touch before.

Oh, and you'll need to replace the patented "Lucas smoke cannister" :)

I get that error all the time. Press the reload icon. When it asks if your rally want to do that, say ok.
