Is this a good buy for her?

I'm watching an item on ebay. It's a engine strut brace, I'd figure it would help with the handling a little and just make the engine look like it's been looked after.

What do you think?

That is a very nice looking unit, seems to be very strong. If you just want to strengthen the front end, then go ahead and get it.
This particular design does have one drawback. It is not adjustable.
Not every car is exactly the same, so it may not fit your car properly.
Also, under certain conditions, you may want to preload the suspension differently, by pulling the towers closer together or pushing them apart. This unit will not allow you to make these adjustments.

I don't know what engine you are running but looking at the brace it would not fit a car with a v8
Cheers Steve
If it's got tits or tyres then it's gonna cost ya!

I'm running the standard 2L slant 4...and thank you for the advice. I don't know what I plan to do with the suspension, maybe keep it standard for now. I'm not sure what it is worth to me either.

I've been watching it too - and quite near me. But it's gone too expensive for me. The photo is handy though - probably just make one to that design! Good point about being adjustable - need to think about how best to do that.

Ted Schumaker has an adjustable one suitable for the TR8:

And Woody has one as well:

Yeah it went too expensive for me too. Oh well. But not really something I need if you know what i mean. I may be better using money otherwise.

Looks very similar to a works TR7 rally one.
Does make the steering more positive.
I have a Sparco Universal Adjustable one on my car.
Available from Demon Tweeks for £46.58 plus vat.
Cheers

Hi,
Looks a good set up Mickey, esp as triangleulated (if thats how you spell it!!) There was a gentleman from this forum selling stainless steel braces on Fleabay that fit V8s but with a S+S frame so not sure if would fit a genuine TR8 frame.
Cheers John.
