not so sure as as soon as you register it and use it you can kiss goodbye to £35+k as the rarity value has gone

I wouldn't buy it. I'm not interested in show pony cars, and very happy for the heritage fans to take it on rather than me.

If you wanted to drive it, first you would have to replace every bit of hose & rubber in every part of the car, including all steering & suspension boots. Then possibly the radiator, fuel tank, & other items we have all had to replace.
It is probable all oil seals in the engine would need replacing. In other words a full restoration, less the metal bits would be required to make the thing roadable.

Not to mention dropping the gas tank to clean out the varnish. In a nod to seldom used cars, take the requirements of my GM Volt. It is often the case where the engine does not get used as it can run only on battery if it is driven with in the range of it. If not used, the engine will start when turned on (you have one yes/no warning) and it will burn .1 to .2 liters of gas every 6 weeks to warm up the oil, circulated it. It requires an oil and filter change every two years after which time it will give a warning although that can be reset to zero (oil life). If the gas in the tank is at one year old, it will burn off the gas as you drive and that is with a pressurized sealed tank so the lighter components in the gas don't evaporate. This prevents stale gas in the tank.

This car has been on and off sale for about a year.
It was bought from an auction for about 33,000 resprayed and now wants offers for about 52500.
I like the car but even today , I think 40,000 is its money.
I would still want to drive it and has been said before once that happens you have to start replacing an awful lot of stuff as old age takes it toll.

Agreed. - on the subject of rubber deterioration, this annual summer service was the first one in many when the front ball joint boots hadn’t needed replacing.
Coating in red grease may have helped. All other gaiters have lasted a few years, exhaust O rings were stretched and cracked up though.

I guess some of the old rubber parts may be serviceable still if the car has been stored away from sunlight. Just rebuilding the front suspension on the gold car at the moment and have elected to keep the existing strut gaiters as they cleaned up well with no splits in evidence. A good coating of vinyl/rubber conditioner and back on the car. I would rather do that than use the Chinese/Indian crap that seems to last about 2 seconds.
