Hi all, my heater matrix is ok but the seals look old and could do with replacing while the unit is out of the car. If new seals are unavailable is there any magic goop that may help create a stronger bond or restore the old rubber?

Most people fit a new matrix that does away with these seals.
There is a VAG item that fits with minimal work.
Use the search function as this has been covered before.

Many thanks, when you did your heater box were you able to dissassemble the blower motor to change the brushes?

If you still have the original painted mild steel heater pipes, they’ll be rusting inside the hardened seals and forcing them open.
The original ones on mine lasted about 11 years before they failed and filled the interior with steam at a T junction.
