Can anyone enlighten me as to the size socket I need to remove my front hubs before I start the job?

Thanks

Can't remember the one I use but the manual says 9/16" UNF on axle. Probably 22-24mm socket? It will not be tight, when you pull the pin and remove the castellated washer it should undo with fingers.
The tightening torque is listed as 5lbft then unscrew 1 flat and fit the split pin. I generally tighten a bit with the socket wrench, not too hard but enough to take out all the slack, the loosen and tighten again (without touching the hub) using the extension bar only (no wrench). Put the wheel back and it should spin with very slight play if rocked top and bottom.

I think it is larger than that. Don't recall off hand, just searched through my socket set until I found one that fit. I used to do the feel method like Saabfast but this year (to minimize wheel sloop) I torqued to 5 in-lbs and backed off 1/2 flat rather than 1. Cut the slop in half and seems to work fine so far.
