I was out in the car on Monday, driving on a short motorway drive ( 10 miles )

on the drive the gear stick suddenly started moving about, it was very sloppy going in and out of gear.

i took the gator of to have a look when i got home, this is what i seen.

what do you think ?

I'd say the bolts that fasten the gearbox remote to the gearbox have come undone, if your really unlucky then the castings have broke.

IF it's a LT77 box and it looks like it could be to me, it's the 2 bolts I've highlighted in red.

Yes the rubber bushes around the 4 mounting bolts of the extension have disintegrated by the looks of it ...

When I say cheap. I did spend £500 on tools to let me do the job. But to the Mrs it was £16 in parts!!

So a bargain we'll all agree.

Tools aren't an expense, they are an investment!

The cost of tools are usually equal to the cost of labour saved, there after they are free so they really don't cost anything at all.

Gentlemen. I used your posts when justifying the expense to my wife. Needless to say she just stared at me!!

I drove my car for 10 minutes today before it started misfiring. Makes the whole thing seem a bargain to me!

2 bolts 4 bushes at the front, 2 bolts 4 bushes at the side.

Don't look at how degraded by oil, & soggy the rear engine mount [gearbox] is while you're down under there, it will only depress you.
