With the pending arrival of a '7, I've been thinking about wheel choices. Being a fan of the ridiculously wide wheel, I've been offered a set of 10" x 13" Revolution 4 spokes off a TR8 tarmac racer, but am I gonna struggle to get tyres for them?

Don't have a clue for that size, but there is not much choice in normal 13" sises these days. What you probably will struggle with is the steering, its heavy enough on a standard car! Handling will be interesting in the wet/ice. My son had 7" minilites on his Mini and it was terrible in poor conditions, not enough weight per unit area on the road with wide tyres, slides very easily (which is why it is now 3" shorter!).

Don't think it'll be easy to find tyres to fit 10 x 13's. I'd guess you probably can find them if you try hard enough, but the question is at what cost! The other problem will be fitting them under the arches; 7 inchers are marginal at best.

That's what I thought - can remember the problems we had about 15 years ago trying to find tyres for the 10 x 13's on my mates Mini - even 235/50R13 BFG's were a bit stretched!
A bit of 'dish' would be nice though, but I'm quie fond of some of the MGF wheels...

I bought a set of 14" alloys with almost unworn 195 x 60 x 14 tyres fitted. They were cheaper than buying the 185 x 70 x 13 tyres on their own.
I reckon it'll be easier to buy 15" MGF alloys plus fitted tyres to replace the 14" tyres on their own when they eventually wear out. These appear regularly on ebay but beware because some of them are offered in dreadful condition.............

Sounds like it may be easier to make my 7 into a "monster truck 7" and just buy some ladders[:D]

I can see how larger tyres could have some real advantages, but I really don't like the way they look.
Wonder how they get them on the wheel - presumably they have a full width contact across the wheel surface. Maybe you need special wheels too?

Certainly does not look as though the rim has a well as in conventional wheels. Probably have to trade in the whole thing for a replacement as some exhorbitant cost as with most 'new' thing now. At least that could mean new alloys and a new look every few years.

How'bout these?
.... Anybody out there ready for this?
If they are better than current tyre technology ... ... yes (but I haven't seen a test on how they perform on the only test track worth mentioning ... the Nordschleife

I think they would be rubbish in snow since they'd fill up unevenly with icy snow/slush - and give you a s-h-a-k-y ride... So, thanks - but no thank you.
