I note that one of the weekly classic car papers has quite a detailed article about fitting LED's to classic cars and the article's author cautions about the illegality of such. I know some members have fitted LED's and have found a significant improvement. Sometimes you can't do right for doing wrong!

I fitted complete LED units as replacements for the original Lucas units.
They came with the correct CE markings, so fully legal this side of the small pond.
Fitting different bulbs to existing light units has always been tricky and mostly illegal.

Rimmers have LED headlights on sale at the moment so they are obviously not worried about their legality on a TR7. Theirs are Ring Lynx Eye RHL150 units priced at £259 including vat.

The article was mainly about the replacement of lights other than headlights. They gave an example of such a fitting producing a weaker light. supercass

I was thinking about buying some LED headlights to compliment my rebuild of that whole assembly but after seeing the price point of proper light I have decided to go with a cheap set of halogen replacement units. You get what you pay for, and there's very good reviews on the cheaper halogen units and questionable reviews on the LED units that are considered cheap. I don't want to spend 700 bucks on good LED units when I can buy any number of modifications for the 7 for that price point. Plus the halogen units are lighter and not as annoying to be in front of.
I kinda hate the people that are rocking these LED headlights. They are either not aimed right or are just straight up too bright for regular use. Halogens are fine. I've been able to live this long with either halogens or lesser units and I think that they will do the job.

For best results from your halogen lights, wire in some relays and fit Osram Night Breaker bulbs, these are the best legal bulbs on the market.
