Rear fog light wiring, relay and fuse

Does anybody know which fuse the standard rear fog lights would be wired in to? Also is there a relay for the rear fogs as well?
Mine have just stopped working and I've the MOT tomorrow!
I've checked the fuses and they seem fine, also checked the switch and that also seems ok. It had previously caused problems but a good clean and it was working fine.
It's a 1981 DHC if that helps, so I need to have working rear fogs - otherwise I'd just taken them off for the time being.
regards
Graham

Panic over -
Think the back of the switch had come loose (or I'd not put it back correctly) when I'd refitted the switch panel. After fixing that forgot that rear fogs only work with the headlights and not the side lights - feel a bit of a plonker now
Now just to panic and see what the MOT uncovers
cheers Graham

Hi folks, I've tried searching ref rear fog lights, but can't find the answer.
I've just taken the plunge and bought a 1979 FHC (Canley build). It's been sat in a garage for a few years being rebuilt, and resprayed.
I'm checking it over pre MOT, and find although it's got a fog light switch there's no rear fog light unit.
I've read the MOT testers manual which states pre 1980 cars don't need a rear fog light.
Was a rear fog light an option, or should it have 1 fitted.
Thanks

I think they were mostly all fitted with rear fog lights by the time yours was built, but if in doubt, rather than have a debate with the MOT tester why not fit them yourself. Its easy to do and the wiring is all there in the boot ready to go. There are even captive nuts in the bumper. The brackets are pretty simple "L" shaped so you can easy make something if you don't have any them. You only need one for the test but I think they look better with two.

Like you say you definitely don't need one for the MoT, but if you have one fitted and it doesn't work it's a fail. I tested my 78 two weeks ago without any problem with none fitted, because they look like the afterthought they are. My intention is to convert one of the reversing lights into a foglight, a tip I believe I picked up on here.

I run the double rear stop/tail set up so they have to go on as extras.

You can still convert the off side reversing light in the cluster to a fog light as Prackers suggests, for a neater rear end that also keeps the MOT inspector happy.

Thanks guys,
I think i'll go down the converting the O/S reverse light route. Purely as the ones fitted under the bumper look a bit of an after thought.

My wife's eunos has one of the reversing lights converted to a fog, no problems at the MOT.

I think the rear mounted fog lights are now part of the "character" of later models and that they look strange without them!! supercass
