Just bought a battery charger ( conditioner)from lidl today to leave on the 7 so I don't keep having to use a booster pack whilst the car is standing,
Do I need to remove the battery plastic caps or can I now charge with this type of charger with the caps on? 9 it doesn't say anything in the instructions)
many thanks for all advice

Hi, I leave the battery cell caps in place when I use my battery conditioner. Never had an issue.
Rich.

A conditioner won't produce enough gas to be a problem. Don't try to put a conditioner on an Optima type battery just charge it up to "about full".

Spiral wound plates with a fiberglass mesh separating the plates also holding the electrolyte. I'd put my conditioner on it but wouldn't go in to maintenance mode. I then read in the instructions they should just be topped up. After that the bad battery light came on (charge light was OK) for a few drives. Disconnected battery, light was off then came back on. A few drives later the light is out and eveything's back to normal. Thought I screwed the battery for a while. Battery was 12.5 volts through out. Gel batteries like what's found in the Miata have weird charging requirements as well.
