It was a nice day

Yesterday was a lovely sunny day up here in Glasgow, I had to take the car out to get to a few things

So decided to go a run after the last outings fiasco.

Ah, i haven't told you lot about that have i ?

Well it is kind of embarrassing, the other week i had a local show to go to that my own club organised, after my trip to billing my fuel gauge does not work.

so because i had some running about to do, i decided to fill up so i knew how much i had in the tank.

It only took £14 about 13L of fuel, so continued on knowing i was full, It wasn't long before the car started spluttering

    Yip i had put Diesel in

I just continued the day, car spluttering and not not sitting at tick over Image

After the end of the day i siphoned as much fuel i could out, about 30L and put in 2 uk Gallon of super unleaded in

and as i took the car out this morning, i thought it would be a good day for a run to use the last of the old fuel

I went to the petrol station, fulled up two cans of fuel and then went a drive, car ran fine, bit smoky on the gear change and lumpy at idle.

drove from Glasgow to Edinburgh It was a great run about 90 miles

Gee, I thought the USA guys that put gas in their diesel SUV's in Europe during the Amazing Race were bonkers. :P

Most people think that until it happens to you.

This is how it happened, when i went back to look at the pump the next day, i could see how i made the mistake as the when you think unleaded you think yellow and green ( well i do )

and Diesel is Black

this photo shows my mistake, ( picture just taken off the net )

And for American viewers, those prices are for a Litre not a Gallon!

I can't imagine how you could do that in Glasgow. Near the airport. At a Shell station with that exact same pump layout. Did you know that in the US the diesel handle is always the green one? Apparently not in Scotland.

$450 later...

105.9 pesos, US$, £, ?

Gas here is 52.54 £ per litre.

It's these high prices like these that I drive 4 cylinder engines. When I had my Javelin V-8 in '71 gas was 33 cents an Imperial gallon. When I switched to a Dodge Colt in 1985 I thought I died and gone to heaven (when I totalled up my gas bill).
