Whilst under the bonnet today I looked over at the wiper arms and thought "Do you oil/grease or other the moving points on the arms?" So do you? And what with?Thanks Steve...

I don't grease anything on the wiper arms. I brush then with Metalready to get any oxide off, paint them with satin paint, (the same trim paint I use on lower windshield trim) under the thought that any grease that might get on the windshield trim would adversely affect the semi gloss paint and not to mention you don't want any grease on the glass regardless how small amount even if it is washed there.

Agree with my learned friends thoughts plus ........ if its not broken don't fix it, or you can end up fixing it until its broke !!

Not TR7 related but maybe slightly helpful!

I've stripped and rebuilt the whole system on my Golf, it had seized up causing the motor to blow the fuse. In an attempt to work it free as it was starting to rain, i stripped the splines. Not a good moment.

If the TR7 is anything like this then it's very straight forward.I had to force the shafts through bronze bushes, wrapping emery cloth around a screwdriver to clean up the bushes and giving the shafts a good clean before greasing everything up and reassembling.

The rear wiper on my 06 Beemer seized up too...

When I built the car back up and being familiar with the vagaries of the rack and wheelbox method of operation(non operation?)I serviced the rack and motor and wheelboxes.Only now have I looked at the parallel arm thingy on the drivers arm with thoughts that it may(consensus now being Not)need lubricating.Thanks,Steve..
