Securing the top

On the DHC, how does the top secure to the first fold down support? This is the support that folds back independent of the rest of the roof supports. On my car there are two flaps attached to the top that look like they should wrap around the support and secure with velcro, or something. But I have never seen how it was done out of the factory. I put three pieces of velcro along the flaps, left right and middle, each about 2 inches long. This does not seem to be a very satisfactory arrangement. And using one continuous piece of velcro seems like it would cause a nuisance to undue. What's the right way?

The flaps you mention have full length velcro on my new hood and the old original hood also had.either hood fitted exactly over the bar and it is a bit of a fiddle on what otherwise is fairly fiddly task.Steve..

Mine also has full length Velcro on the flaps. Problem is that the flaps do not quite line up with the roof bar and it is a fiddle trying to get it done up around the bar. The Velcro flaps are necessary to keep the roof down when pushing on, otherwise the wind seems to get under it and it sort of billows up.

With the full length velcro you have to kind of run your finger along it so it doesn't reconnect. Not a big problem, a little hard on the finger but not something you do often (hopefully just in the spring if you're lucky).

Nick:
My top is not original, but it has snaps on the flaps that go around that rear cross bar. There is velcro on the flaps for the main roof cross bar. The snaps do a good job holding it in place, but are a bit tough to reach.

Mine is original and have snaps on back flap and velcro on front flap. The front flap had separated from the top because the glue dried out. had to reglue it.
