Black duct tape? There are vinyl repair kits that have multiple colours in it but basically you mix to get the tint you want, if it's black you need it makes it easy. You apply. heat with iron and the metal tool (comes with different texture papers) to cure. I have used to to cover a few worn through spots on the trunk vinyl pieces stipple with my finger to good effect but I have my doubts it would stand up to the tension a top is under but failing anything else might be worth a try as they aren't expensive (at least mine wasn't).

If the small slit in your vinyl sunroof is on the side, towards the rear (about 1 or 2 inches fron the rear edge) then no.

There are strings running along both sides, front to rear, to keep the sunroof down along its edges when closed. These strings tend to snap at the rear which causes the vinyl to rip in that area. Replacing the string is a big job.
