The ignition light in the DHC has decided to stay on after I turn the car off, It goes out as soon as I start the engine. Any ideas ?

Hi Troy.
There are others on the forum that are no doubt better qualified that I am to answer this but try pulling the plug off the back of the alternator. If the charge light goes out I'd say you have a leaky diode in the regulator. If it doesn't go out, I'd possibly be looking at the printed circuit on the back of the binnacle for any melted insulation.
Please let us know what you find.
Cheers
Scott.

Thanks Scotty I in plugged the alternator today and the light went out. I will rebuild one of the spares and swap it. Thanks for the advise.

I changed the alternator for a new 65 amp version today. All fixed. Brand new from Australian supplier $200. Slight modification by rotating front housing and drilled out one hole and it bolts straight up. [:D]

Good stuff. Glad to hear it was reasonably straightforward Troy.
What alternator did you use, a Lucas or alternative?
