How much height do you need in the garage.......

....for a 2 post lift?
The House is getting an extension and the tumbledown detached garage is getting replaced by an up to date larger integral one. Mrs Bushey reckons it needs an inspection pit on the floor, I'd prefer a 2 post lift if the height allows since you'd still be using axle stands for most of the difficult jobs. The lifts appear on fleabay now and again.
So, how much ceiling height would I need for a 2 post lift? I've got the option of a split level drive (not popular with Mrs Bushey) and a tall garage ceiling, or a single level drive and a normal height garage with axle stands.
