Also 30th Anniversary

Very similar to John Wood I also hit my 30 years with TR7s.

It was November 1984 when I bought my first TR7 (SRA 279R) in white 5 speed with red Tartan interior. I was an apprentice with the CEGB and was at Burton college, it cost £1500, but having a wage meant I could take out a loan which is the only way I could of bought it.
I got my first DHC in 1986 (GOG 563W), it had had an interior fire, all the interior gutted, glass gone, doors buckled, a mess, but I put it back on the road, it was the only way I could ever afford a DHC! (even though at the time DHC parts were expensive and they weren't being broken for spares)

Since then I have always had a TR7 in my life, in 1989 it went up to 3, but levelled at 2 for years and now I have 5.

I do have the bug and hope it never goes!

Cheers,
Dave

It's an illness Dave, a strange one but something I can't explain about these cars. Is there a cure?

Hi Dave,

Congratulation, been working on them since 82 but got a couple of years till get to my 30th.

Not found a cure yet, mine have survived, marriage, kids, house moves, job moves and divorce, in fact just about everything life throws at you. [:p]

Cheers John

You have just mirrored my life story Mr Lucas. The TR7 has been the only constant throughout my life, friends, partners and a wife have all come and gone but the TR7 has always been there. I too have a couple of years to go to celebrate the big 30. Congratulations Dave on 30 years with the TR7[:)]

Roy - Pull the other one!
You REALLY only 28? LOL!
That's what owning a TR7 does - you look at least 48!

Thanks Chaps for the congratulations.

It was a college mate who said if I sell my Escort (MK2 1300) and have a loan I could buy a TR7, I thought there is no way I could afford a TR7 so I looked in to it and realised I could! A teacher at school had one and I always liked it and knew I wanted one some day. I think thats when the Bug bit me and it was waiting until the time was right to get me hooked! Funny thing the same mate at college a couple of months later Part Ex'd his Spitfire for a TR7! It was very similar to mine, 1977, white, red tartan interior, but 4 speed and the Reg also started in SRA the same, I have a photo in the attic I'll have to dig out of both TR7s on the college car park together.

Maxwell, I think Roy is talking about years as a TR7 owner, not his age.

John, I'm slightly behind you again, I'm 50 in October 2015 and hoping to get a TR7 on the road by then (but hopefully before then!)

Dave

I know I only look 28 [:p] but I actually reach the half century this month. And spookily KDU 366N is going to be painted and finished on my 50th birthday, that's the best present I could of ever wished for.[:)]

You may of been a late starter Chris but you certainly caught the TR7 bug with a vengeance. It would be nice to see that first Pageant Blue TR7 at a show again sometime, it's been a while.
