Air Filter Box Colour

Ok, I am doing some minor work on Monkey (1979 USA TR7 FHC) ... The FASU / FACU needs attention so I thought at the same time I'd repaint the air-box (previous owner had painted it a lovely shade of yellow!). Anyone know the correct original colour & paint code?

also what goes into the hole at the end of the airbox?
Thanks

A reasonable collection.

Hot air pipe from end of the airbox to the exhaust manifold.
If you're speaking with Paul about the restoration show next year ask him about the airbox colour, he's done some research into this subject.

Chris,
I will bring along some tins to the NEC in November but if you can't make that I will have some at all the TRDC events. I am trying to research the correct colour for the rocker covers next if anyone has an unpainted original.

That late airbox should be black, what code I don't know but any gloss black spray will be pretty close.

Rocker covers were only blue on some USA cars I have seen.

It is of course still possible to pick up a new airbox at a reasonable cost.

My Spider (California car) was/is silver. I believe federal cars were blue, California cars were silver. Because California had different (more stringent) emissions than the rest of the world it had it's own rocker colour as well as letter in the VIN number. Another example, Federal Spitfire rocker covers were blue and California's were orange. As with anything BL there was rule of thumb then there were the exceptions (or were parts ran out and others substituted or assembler didn't give a damn or just made a mistake).

Make sure it's temperature resistant. Club member got one from a supplier and it only last two years before it disintegrated. Second one was said to be temp resistant. Don't know how it's been holding up.

I call it GM blue as it is the same colour as my oil filter cover and the jubilee clips on my FI rubber intake hoses. I have resprayed them with a generic paint called GM blue and it's the same colour.
