Wheel options in Australia

Not sure if I have asked about this before, but if I have my old age and bad memory is playing me up.
I am looking at replacing the standard alloy wheels to either 14 or 15, not too interested in the 16's. I was looking at bringing some mgf wheels from the UK but thought if I could get some here, that would be better. I'm looking for a straight forward swap with not too much work involved. Can anyone advise of a set of wheels that I can buy over in Australia, that I can swap straight over onto my tr?

Bugger all here uses the same PCD except the MGF, so your second hand choices are going to be somewhat limited.
However, with new wheels, you can order them drilled to the correct PCD.

There is absolutely no point in going 14s in Oz Phil, the choice of tyres for them is even less than 13s.
Why do you want to go 15 anyway?
If you like the appearance fine, we all have our preferences in the looks department. Otherwise it is the same story as 14s, nothing better in tyres is available for them today. The choice of tyres even for the 16s on my S2000 Honda is becoming restricted.
For my driving mostly on less than perfect country roads, I find the 13s on the 7 are not only more comfortable, but give better handling that the 15 on the 8. The 8 handles better on smooth roads than the 7.
However one real advantage of the MGF wheels is they are stud centric. You will have much less of our famous wheel wobble with those than any other readily available wheel, at any where near the price.
I have bespoke 15" Simmons wheels on the 8, also stud centric, & have no wheel wobble problem with them. They are very good 3 piece wheels, but must be made of gold to justify the price new. Try the local Triumph specialists for some second hand good wheels.
Do remember, you must have the standard MGF nuts with their wheels. Make sure you get them with the wheels, they cost a kings ransom to buy new here.

Simmons Wheels went out of business @ 18mths - 2yrs ago, so you won't be able to get any of them either.

My MGF Wheels came without nuts. There are lots of tapered nuts available, but the only ones that fit MGF Wheels are MGF Nuts. Most are 22mm dia. at the widest part of the taper, but the MGF is 25mm. I think it cost approx. $60 to get a set from the UK.

That's what I believed too Cobber, but Google found a website for them.
Could it still be there 2 years after they folded, or has someone bought the company & restarted it.
I was thinking that Phil might find some second hand ones, if he was lucky.

Thanks for the replies guys. My main reason for changing the wheels is due tot he fact that options for the 13' are limited. Also I wish to upgrade the brakes on my 7 and to get something decent it always appears that the 13' are not good. Pleases like Rimmer do an upgrade and they need 14" as a minimum.
Was really just looking for something that would fit our hubs and that I could get easily enough here. My mom and friends are not too keep on the idea of carrying a mgf wheel in each of their bags when they come over to visit. Lol you cannot get the commitment these days...

Phil I find the stock brakes, with green stuff pads are adequate for my inter state trips, & my club runs. I have never faded them, even on the twisty bits, although I did have them gently smoking once after a long steep twisty decent. I was being a bit silly though.
Of course it does not stop as well as the 8 with it's big 4 pot brakes with its gripy 15" Bridgestones, but they are no longer available in smaller than 17".
Don't bother with 14", there is nothing better in 14" than the Kumhos I have on my 13s.
I did a post a little while back on how much better they are than the Pirellis they replaced, for general fun type motoring.
You must be finding it a lot more expensive here with our prices for Triumph stuff.

Oh yes Hasbeen, at the moment I am getting all my bits shipped over from the UK from the suppliers that I used when there. The good thing is that the shipping is not that much at the moment on the bits that I have ordered. I have my mom and aunt visiting soon and they are both bringing a new starter motor and an alternator with them in their cases. I have not had much time to find suppliers out here yet, but I am sure I will start to look when I have to bring bigger items over and the shipping gets too much.
