Great Weekend
Posted: 12 Jun 2014 18:25
It was my first drive with the "All Triumph Boys Run".
Being on the island I had planned on getting up at 3:45 AM to catch the first ferry, as it happened that wasn't a problem since I had been up all night with the flu.
Picked up my co-driver (who slipped most the drive) at 4, made the ferry and had some yogourt and three bottles of water and was like new (almost).
Met the group of 26 triumphs (one other wedge a TR8) in Bellingham Washington. By 9:30 headed off on a back road drive to Leavenworth Washington (a ski town in the Cascades with a Bavarian theme).
Party down like only 60 to 70 year old men can and was a sleep by 11:30 (got back to hotel by 12).
Back on the road by 9:30 chasing the group who had left at 9! (old people don't wait)
Caught up and sprinted along a beautiful hyway to Lake Chelen where we found a large downtown car show. Spent the a couple hours there viewing the hot rods and muscle cars (one 454 chevy motor bike) and back on the road by 1:30 on our way to Osoyoos BC Canada.
Party down with Chinese food and back in bed by 11 (old people).
Back on the road by 9:30 chasing the group (I'm consistent) through the mountains back to Vancouver, on 5:15 ferry to the island and in bed by 10 (no problem sleeping).
In total we had 3 sunny warm days covering about 1200 miles with on about $200.00 fuel added no water or oil. Surprised the TR6 guys and the TR8 on the hills since I had not told anyone about the powertrain swap (still says 2 liter on one side of the car).
And I learned how much fun you can have on great roads with great people with not much sleep (unless your a co-driver who said he enjoyed the sleep).
Great weekend, looking forward to next years adventure.
Sorry I'm picture challenged. (I'll see if Merv will post them)
