A simple job (if only)

Yesterday, it was cold here in Sydney and I didn't feel like doing much on the car. However, as I sat here on this Public Holiday (Bank Holiday in the UK) I felt more and more guilty for not doing one of the jobs on the big list.

So I decided that I would do the quickest and easiest job on the list. Something that would take me a short amount of time and let me feel good as I crossed it of the list. Or so I thought.

It was to take the bolts off the 'T Bolts" holding on the rear grills on my fhc and replace the old washers with new ones. A job that has been on my mind for a bit now. So I started to unscrew them and that is when they started to break, the blot itself. I didn't worry about this as i thought I could easily get net ones cheap enough. So out of 8 I had 3 that survived.

I contacted all the major suppliers and found out that no new ones are in stock and they are not sure when they will have them in. So it is a waiting game if I want the new ones. Or try to sort out a repair job to get the end bits right.

I was going to grease all the threads and bolts to ensure they didn't stick and do this, but it looks like I was too late :)

Yes Phil, a lot of our plastic bits are getting rather long in the tooth.

Your cars plastic should not be as bad as most Oz cars, after spending their entire life in our warmer & brighter climate.

That's a bit of a bugger...
I bought some brand new ones from S&S Preparations last year, have you tried them?

I got 8 new ones a few weeks back from TD Fitchett, £1.5 each!

Sounded like they were not short of them.

I also got the rubber pedal pad for the Accelerator (Gas) pedal from them, £12.

I think they are the unsung gold mine.

Hope that helps,

Steve

Thanks for that Steve. I did try all the others but none had any of the new ones available, but I forgot about TD. I have never used them before but will give them a call when they open, I think I will order more than what I need, just to ne sure. I was looking on the new today for other things that can be used, bit off they have some that will be better.
