Stereo for TR7

Can anyone recommend an appropriate stereo that will fit into the TR7,without to much modification ! Thanks

Great thing about these is that they are much shorter in length to the rear than standard stereos meaning they actually fit in without sticking out. I can confirm they work great with iPod/iPhone and anything else that has a 3.5mm standard audio output. Also works great with SD cards or Memory Sticks via the USB port.
Sounds great through the standard speakers!

Gosh looking at the one in the wedge shop for £105 or the one on ebay for just under £20 with the free P&P, I know what one I will be going for

You want a radio without CD (old tech any ways) as they are too deep. Pyle has period looking radios with SD and USB inputs and modern electronics complete with manual tuner or electronic tuner if you want (does anybody use tuners anymore?), they are inexpensive but better than what was available 30 years ago. You can find better radios with electronic tuners which definitely aren't period, if sound is more important than original look. That will invalidate any hope of getting collector plates and it's cheaper insurance. A third choice is there are companies that take your old original radio, clean it up (make it look new) and put a modern quality insides too it so you get the best of both worlds but it's the most expensive option.

Hi,

I fitted a JVC cassette player with a 12 disc multi player in the boot, it was new old stock of Ebay for about £50, then installed a dirty big V8 up front [}:)] now cant hear a bl88dy thing ! !

I wouldn't recommend the cheap Pyle with the manual tuner. It works OK as an MP3 player but it sucks as a radio. It will not hold an FM station even one with a solid signal.

If you want to spend a bit of money (£120 ish) the Pioneer MVH-X560BT is shallow depth and fits a treat. It also has illumination that can be set to green and the added advantage that you can read the display from any angle (you will notice that most LCD screens are rendered useless in the 7 due to the angle the head unit sits at). There is no CD player hence the depth so music via aux/usb/BT etc.

I put a Clarion receiver in my TR7V8. Has a classic look, but is quite modern.
The A/C-heater box takes up more space than the non-A/C unit and forces any modern radio to fit on an angle. So, in order to make it fit flush to the console, I modified the console to lower the mounting position by about 1/2". I cut out the flat along the lower edge of the radio opening and glued it to the top of the opening. Worked perfectly.
