Finished early today and it gave me chance to have a poke around the red DHC on my driveway.
As pulled out the dash clocks out I noticed the icons were different than on my other Solihull DHC and it also had clock/odmeter control sticks through the Perspex, at what point in production did they change....

This looks like the dash on my 1981 DHC. I have a 79 DHC which is different as is the 1980 TR8. My guess is that it is the end of productiuon that uses this dash.

They have added a low water light, changed the low fuel light from the 1980/79 models.

If memory serves me my 76 FHC has seperate demister and head light lights in the left and right top corners of the dash.

Only fitted to very late production cars, but I don't think there is a definite changeover date - as with many things on the TR7 changes were a bit haphazard! My June 81 FHC still has the old style instruments.

The change introduced the ISO type icons to the warning lamps & the individual instruments, as well as reversing the positions of the mileage & trip readouts, and changing the adjusters to protrude through the cover. The speedo cable is also different.

Take a careful look at the ventilation sliders - have you got the ISO icon above the screen/car slider? And on the illumination strip below the dash switches? I have these on my FHC but still have the old style instruments.

So when was your red DHC built Gaz? VIN?

Yeah that's it Gaz, there is the ISO icon above the car/screen slider, & the fan slider also has the ISO icon instead of the word FAN.

Little detail changes that appeared on late cars. My FHC has those but still had the earlier instruments, so as I said a haphazard application of the changes. You car must have been built not long after mine which is 406786, bearing in mind that they were building about 10 DHCs for every FHC by that time.

I have the earlier instrument panel but with a late fuel gauge and the iso sliders.

Reckon it was made in early 81.
