Any Problems With Floods?

I've just had Classic Car Weekly telephone as part of their investigation into flooding problems affecting classic cars. So has anyone had any issues or know of any problems?

I've had problems down here with wind - and I don't mean too many sprouts! My TR7 lives in an outdoor Carcoon but that hasn't survived. I'm hoping to have a new top half for that ordered today. Similarly the Mini Cooper lives in a Cover Systems pullover garage and we can't risk leaving that up with 80-90mph gusts whistling through.

By the way, CCW will be running the 'Wedgetastic' press release next week.

A Wedgetastic press release? Such blasphemy! What's next, an honorarium for roll up windows, unibody construction, and overhead camshafts? By all rights they should go back to flathead engines, wooden frames, and flyscreen windshields. Modern ways, BAH-HUMBUG!

This is what you want.

It was a greenhouse, covered in a translucent material. I had a new cover made in Hypalon, a very tough UV resistant material. We had deck awnings & boat canopies last 15 years in the tropics.

It survived a thunderstorm with winds of over 100 knots, but I was worried by it, & planted the trees as a wind break. So far so good.

It will take 4 cars at a pinch, but would need a wide door to use as parking for 4 on a regular basis.

Hasbeen - I'd never get away with that where I live!

However, I did manage a 4.5m x 2.4m Olive-Green Canvas garage with a roll-up zip door; it looks like something left over from M.A.S.H

A wooden fold down garage? I'm sure I've seen a write up on one somewhere but I can't remember and can't find anything on the internet. supercass

Mine is a Cover Systems pull over garage which has a substantial aluminium frame and withstands the winds down here in Cornwall. The fabric covers do get torn up a bit though so I've taken to making my own now which is much cheaper (about £12 for a new one each year).
