I need help identifying and locating a part

Postby jrich4411 » 27 Jan 2014 02:12

I am (finally!) near the end of my rebuild project - for now. (will there ever be an end???).
What I can't find are the 2 chrome pieces I removed from the top rail above the windshield that the convertible top fastens into. I know I took them off 5 1/2 years ago & so far, I have found every other part I removed from the car - but not these. Can anyone give me the official part name & suggest where I might purchase a set?

Thanks!

Are you talking about the two pieces that are held on by two screws and have a "keyhole" shaped hole in it?

I would try Ted when he gets back from Daytona.

Link to Rimmers site with the plates. Seems they have new RH ones but only used LH ones.

In my view they are not chrome but black painted copper.

Ask and ye shall receive... You guys & gals are awesome! The people on this site never fail to offer great info & wisdom.

John, I will post more pics in the spring when I get her back from getting the interior overhauled. I have posted a couple teasers on this site along the way of the engine...

Going by mine they look like chromed brass - the only bit left when the rest rusts away!

On the Spider they were black painted on brass in keeping with the black theme. Can't recall what they were on Yellow TCT as they are well packed away.

all three of my DHCs ('81, '82, '80 - in that order) they were chrome plated. The original color of each was white, black & red (I think). That may have something to do with the color of the car itself
