Early fuel filler cap question

I have all the parts to return my 76 FHC to its original large fuel filler cap specification.
The only part I am missing is the seal for the filler cap itself.
So is there anyone that can point me to a source where I can find a seal for the early type fuel filler cap?

Don't know if it's different but on my small cap I made one out of neoprene using the old one as a template. Can't you do the same with the large one?

They are completely different.
Cross section of the seal is U-shaped

Waiting for the last response, but started looking at other options to get round this problem.
Next option will be to look if there's a universal seal somewhere out there.
And last option will be something like this, but than in black ...

Hi Beans
I have just fitted the same filler cap to my '81 7v8 and it looks great,well,that's my opinion of course[;)]
Unfortunately because I am a total numpty I cannot upload a photo but it is a good alternative to the original.

They certainly look great, but I'd like to stick to the original look for once,
But I could live with one of these on the car [;)]

The one in the picture is going to be fitted to 't Kreng.
They do have one "problem" in that they are not vented.
So to avoid problems you have to fit a valve.

The one I have from Rally Designs is vented and lockable but I will be fitting a valve in the system just to be on the safe side.

My 1976 coupe just has a large O-Ring as a seal. It seems to work fine.

Can't see how an O-ring should stay in place, or did you glue it to the filler caps sealing plate?

check out this rubber supplier. They appear to have a u channel rubber that might work, bet yet there may even be a company that does the same thing on your side of the ocean.

I just looked up u channel rubber and this what I came up with.

The O-Ring is a snug fit to the center circular part.
