When I was getting my new tyres a couple of days back there was a young bloke running the office, & programing the work. I had spent a bit of time talking to him on the phone, sorting out something decent from what is left to us 13" users.
Once the paperwork was finished, he took me down to the fitting & balancing area to allocate the job to a fitter. It is a large area with 2, 10 meter roller doors opening up the front of the building
The car was parked facing one of these, & as he saw it, he said, to no one in particular, "Wow, sweet car"! He had never seen a 7, or 8 before. This is not all that unusual, he was probably a few years younger than the car, & there were not that many sold in Oz.
When I stopped at the local village service station for some fuel, on the way home, an old bloke, [probably only 6 or 10 years younger than me], came up with a big smile, saying "gee you've kept that nice haven't you". This one knew what he was looking at, & after a quick once over, he simply said, "very nice, well done".
I haven't driven the 7 as much as usual recently, & had forgotten how often people admire a nicely kept 7. Even the new 40s something cashier lady at the service station said, "UM, nice, I always wanted one of those".
I must remember to remind myself how lucky I am.

That is great to hear and when it happens it sure feels nice. I remember once I had the same situation outside my mom and dads place. I had just taken her for a nice drive and stopped at their place on the way home. This guy was walking down the road, stopped to comment on my car and its condition.
Thank the lord he only saw tue drivers side as the door on the other side was dented in and needs replacing [:D]

Nice to get those. One of my best was driving up to a customers house in a secluded rural house. Some young kids were out in the front yard tossing a beach ball. One boy about 8 looks over and says "nice car Mister". I don't think I was interested in cars till I was 12.

That's not only the kids Bushey.
I insure with the largest & most active classic car insurer in Oz, Shannons. They even advertise in our Triumph car club magazine.
They advertise that they understand our passion for our classic car or bike.
Yer right. The last time I rang to renew my insurance for my Triumph, the girl put me through to the motorbike section.
I suggested that they may understand our passion, but perhaps they should train their switch girls a bit too.

I always have a big grin on my face when I'm driving my TR. Compliments like these just make the grin a bit bigger. There is a group of boys in the 8 to 12 year old range that seem to be out playing a couple blocks from my house quite regularly. They always yell out "Cool car mister!" every time I drive by.

These cars always seem to get the looks and compliments. Last year I was sitting at a red light and the bus driver next to me opened her window and said she loved the car; "When did they start making Triumphs again?" I told her they hadn't, it was a 1980. She said "Wow, it looks like its brand new!" Made my whole day.

I get that too, usually by the kid behind the auto parts counter.
Other comments:
What year is that?
Is that a Dodge product?
I've got two of those at home, not running though.
I had one years ago but I crashed it off the road.
My cousin had one but crashed it off the road.
My friend had one but ran it off the road.
I'll bet that's a lot of fun.
Nice shape.
Haven't seen one of those for years.
They had fuel injection?

I have gotten the "Is your TR8 a 4 cylinder or V8?" question from several parts guys. Then they always say something like "Wow, a V8 in that little thing? It must be fun."
