soft top

i can some let me know how much a soft top is for my tr7 and how easy or hard is it to fit ,,,,,,[:D]

from most of the usual sources your going to pay around 400 for a good quality top and probably about the same for a local installer to fit.
While some have done this dyi , (depending on your experience as a trimmer) I'd strongly suggest a pro install as it's something you kinda only want to do once. They can be buggers to align and adjust so that the roof is air and water tight.

Check Rimmers, S&S Prep or Robsport. Most can do their own (depends on the person). I'm of the opinion I can do it as good as most, it'll just tale me 5 times longer. Use search at top RH of page to find previous discussions on this. Jclay might have an article on his website, check it out, regardless he's got lots of tech articles for down load, you should familiarize yourself with it.

I think it is easy enough to do yourself, as far as soft tops go TR7's are relatively simply when compared to a modern BMW or similar. Worth doing a search as the pros and cons of vinyl versus fabric soft tops for the TR7 has been discussed before. supercass

I did mine myself, with a little trepidation at the start. Just need to take your time to line it all up and read any articles first so that you know where you are going. Most difficult part I found to get a decent finish was at the ends of the header rail where it all folds together. No doubt a trimmer would have made a better job of that part.
Hoods are available in various materials from cheaper vinyl to mohair (which I used). It really needs to be done in a heated shop or on a hot day, particularly with vinyl, to soften the material and be able to stretch and work it.

hi lads thanks for all the hekp wt the tr7 soft top i will read up more on them and then i will attempt tp fit it my self so will let you know how i got on and can i say being a new comer to this site i luv it already and every one that puts his her hers imput in this site please continue to do so and thanks again looking forward to reading it as always ta from hicko in ireland

I have done mine twice in the last 20 years, it is not to difficult, make sure the header is cleaned of all old glue etc as any residue will show through, then measure carefully to make sure it is central, as said above the corners on the end of the header can be tricky, needs many small pleats to gather the excess material.

nore yet what type of material i wil use for the tr7 soft top as i only got it about 3 weeks ago and there was gear box trouble on the car for a year or so ,,so collected car and made its way to a garage that tok out the gear box and got it reconditioned so will collect in a few days and ten i will look at what else is needed re the driving element and ten will turn to the soft top ,,so am hoping by mid march [our st paddys day] i wil have it in good condition and ready for the road ,,looking forward to it ,,and thanks for your imput on the soft top ,,regards hicko
