What is the consensus on tire pressure. My FHC recommends 24 front and 28 rear. Is that based on handling or tire wear or what? What is the best combo for performance on a stock car?

I think that was likely to accommodate the soft ride N/A was used to. My '71 Javelin recommended 28 psi but the tires (especially fronts) would wear at the edges. I've used 32 psi since. I like the way the TR7 handles at 32 along with the feel of the road it gives you. Tire wear is even on all wheels. It does give a harsher ride at slower speeds but it is an old British sportscar.

Hi Nick. I've used 23/27 for extended runs on gravel roads. It seems to reduce the pounding those roads give to the body, with out spoiling the handling too much on the slippery stuff.

Around here on our patched, patches in the old bitumen roads I run 26/28, but up that to 30/32 for Triumph club runs & long trips on country roads that are fairly good, but not highway standard.

The tire shop tells me 30 or 32 pounds are better especially for 205 width tires on stock width rims.
