Steel wheel sizes

I have a mixed bag of steel wheels from two cars. RKC1513 and RKC0187. Anyone know which wheels were used in which years and why they changed? The offsets are different and the front face on the RKC 1513 is deeper dished.

Come on. Someone out there knows the history behind these various wheel offsets. Where are all the historians?

All I know is that my 1980 DHC had the original RKC 1513 wheels on them until this summer. I don't know what the others are from.

As far as I knew there was only one steel wheel used through 7 production. The wheel trims changed through the ages.

There's a couple of threads out on the net about both part no.s. My old steelies have RKC1513 on them. I wouldn't be suprised if the others came off another Triumph but I couldn't find anything listed.

From 1979 onwards they are listed in the catalogue as part number 151550 ...

But I took a set marked RKC0187 from a DHC and a set makred RKC1513 from another DHC.
Both were Solihull built Californian spec DHC's, and both were fitted with the original wheel trims for these cars.
So I presume (dangerous with BL I know [:p]) that their overall dimensions are the same.
Although they look slightly different if you watch carefully

Actually about using TR7 steel wheels on the Spitfire (Triumph Spitfire that is, not Supermarine [:D]), but explains quite clearly the differences between the two types of wheel.

Why & when did they change? Sorry, can't help with that.

As that article states, the two designs have different offsets. Probably something to keep in mind when purchasing used ones to use with ones you already have.

if I'm not mistaken , the spitfire rims are 1 inch thinner than the TR7 rims .... so if so , I understand their desire to run "our" larger wheels.


IMHO, the wheels do look nice with the spit cap btw ....
