FUEL HOSE.

I have a problem with the rubber fuel hoses on my car which probably affects most UK owners.
Its been off the road since the end of Aug,when I switched the ignition on today the pump kept running,it usually stops when pressure has built up.
The fuel hose from steel pipe on the chassis to the carbs had hardened and fuel was squirting out. This pipe was fitted in Feb of this year and had perished already.
It was a Gates branded hose from the local motor factors and has never been a problem before.
I suspect that the increased methanol content in the fuel has caused this.
Has anyone else had this and did they find a solution?
God knows what its doing to the inside of the SU`s[V]
