This is a post on behalf of a friend who needs to change the roof on his car - I have had a really good trawl about and cannot find the write up that showed the pictures.

Can anybody point us in the right direction.

Cheers

Ian

I worked from scraps of info found on the internet and the 'How to improve your TR7' book but it is pretty vague in places. I think there is now a comprehensive write-up on jclays site?

Thanks Alan,

I had a good trawl through - I was really looking for Chunk's ( I think) Rally car build blog, the write up which showed chopping the whole tin top off and replacing it.

Cheers

The thread below shows the roof being taken off my new shell and being replaced with a non sunroof skin.

It's quite a simple procedure, un pick your donor roof from the internal side so that it leaves an un-holed 'new' old panel, ie drill the spot welds from the rear and avoid puncturing the flange of the roof skin.

Do the reverse on the roof you are removing, drill out the spot welds through the skin but don't puncture the internal rood structure.

Swap over the skins and spot weld back on after cleaning and treating all mating surfaces.

If you don't have access to a spot welder you will have to drill and plug weld, not sure if some of the new bodyshop adhesives would be enough on their own to hold a skin on.

Cheers, Paul

That's exactly the posting I was looking for, Thanks Paul. I'm sorry I confused you with Chunk.
