Another thread prompted me too have a look at my vin plate properly and to my surprise I now realise in my ownership it's had the wrong interior. I have always had blue check however the trim code tells me blue velour....

Also what does the L T bottom right tell me?

Not beyond the releams of possibilites was the VIN 'Boy' got it wrong when he saw blue check come down the conveyor belt & stamped it blue velour. Does your door cards have the White makers sticker on the back or repo one's that would narrow things down ?
Or was your a batch of TR8's that became TR7's after it was cancelled.
That would be news [:0]

Do late TR7's not have SAT as part of the VINS.

LT no idea - LT space for options fitted ?
Or Left Hand Drive for other Countries other than US,Europe ?

Hi Gaz,

May have been swapped at some point, not the hardest wearing material or as my learned friend Neil said, a miss build. Once PDI a MGF with two different colour door trim, ie red one side and green the other side [:o)] Simon at Robsport was selling a set of seats and door trims if you want to go back to original or fit the correct one's after all these years !

Been swapped at some point is a strong possibility as before I got it, it had been involved in its first garage fire, so maybe then.....

I have seen many a TR7 with the wrong information stamped on the Vin plate. My own 76 coupe has been stamped ACW (North American market) instead of ACG (European market). I sure Tony's highly original Solihull coupe has been stamped with the code for Tan trim even though we know it's always had Blue trim. I would be pretty sure your car would of had the Blue check Gaz ,they've just stamped it wrong.

The "World Manufacture Code" SAT Prefix appeared in May 1981 and just indicates country of origin.

As for what the LT stands for,I'm not sure.I was talking with the highly knowledgeable Rex Holford the other day on this very subject and even he didn't know what they meant. I've never seen two car's with the same letters stamped. My own thoughts on the matter are they are simply the initials of the guy who stamped the plate at the factory, but that's just a guess on my part.

I think your probably right with your initials assumption Roy.

As for trim codes the red one sat on my driveway has trim code AMG which is't the tan check that's in it, this car was only on the road for 8 years so the chances are it started out with the tan check it has now.
I wonder if the 4300 or so miles on the odometer is correct

The late velour trim as illustrated above in blue, was not just a TR8 fitment but also export TR7.
