Will these work with factory alloy wheels?

They do not look like my lug nuts with factory alloys. Very smart but much longer. I don't have the car here to check but the shank looks about 1 1/2" long on those whereas I seem to remember mine being about 3/4"-1" long.

Hi,
Cant see them working on a standard alloy wheel, they do work on mine [:p] so can always measure them for you. They would certainly need cutting down and the shank part is different dia I think.

I took a set of standard chrome lug nuts, 12mm by 1.25 I believe, and shortened them to fit. It was quite easy with a lathe took about 10 minutes.
They do sell short nuts but the shanks are only about 1/2" and that just is not enough.

How much does it cost to rechrome the lug nuts? There was a set of stainless set for sale a while back on eBay. Wish I would have got them. Would be better than chrome ones. The cheap ones you get at Wal-mart (for my Integra) don't last very long. In the mean time I take them off, wire brush them, treat them with Metalready, put some anti seize on and good for a while.

Chrome finish lug / nut covers would be useful, but I've never managed to find them in the correct size for standard TR7 alloy wheel nuts. I have however with a little filing managed to get Insignia wheel nut covers to fit and these have a nice matt finish. Non original though. supercass

I've got a set of original style lug nuts for the alloy wheels. They are from Rimmers I think, the little caps on the ends are not permanently attached. The problem is they are a little gold-ish in color. I'm hoping over time they will patina to more of a silver.

Those proprietary lug nuts, of the right length will work on factory alloys, [sort of]. I had them on my first 7, when I bought it.
The washers were much lighter than original, & deformed, jamming in the wheel, or on the nut. The stock wheels seemed softer than aftermarket wheels, & a couple suffered some uneven compression from the thinner deformed washers.
I aquired thicker washers, had the wheel nut bearing faces spot faced, & then had no trouble with using them for the next couple of years, prior to selling that car.

That's the problem with the standard nuts, it's more of a rust patina. supercass

Randy, when I tried it, the shine of the chrome looked a little out of place against the alloy. That was just my opinion...oh, wait a sec...didn't you just get your alloys redone?

I did Mons, had them powder coated. They look beautiful, just like new. Just came in from wiping them down good and waxing them!
