I have the AC/Heat unit out of one car, and a heat only unit out of another. I want to rebuild the AC/Heat unit.

Has anyone attempted this before and documented the progress?

Seals, Controls, improvements, ? ? ?

I had mine out but that was to replace foam seals (made up from foam i had handy)and foam facing on the flaps (thin foam sheets from craft store). The rubber was still good so that remained undisturbed. All moving parts were lubed and any screwed connections checked for tightness. Electrical connections cleaned and dielectric greased. Flushed out the matrix with some CLR.

I had the one in the TR8 out a couple of years ago to replace the heater matrix. It is a non AC unit. I actually bought a used one on E-Bay and went through it first so that the car would not be down as long. Pretty straight forward. I picked up foam sheets at a local hardware store and refaced all the flaps. Cleaned and lubed everything up. That was about it.

It took a full day to remove and replace the unit in the car.

I was wondering how to find the foam sheets. Never thought of a craft store. I'll check the hardware too.

The system seems pretty basic, but a lot of small parts. If anyone has step by step pictures or videos send the link

Really, when I think about it, my whole project is your fault. I would have been done by now with a simple daily driver... but I was inspired to go the extra mile.... or million miles.
