well rain and snow has cleared and just realised shepton mallet is next weekend so thought had better start the fhc up..... easier said than done, just did not want to know and was running so nice when parked up, so last two days spent changing over all the ht leads etc and cleaning everything i could think of and this afternoon got it running, roughly but running, willtry to take it for a run in the week and maybe to work for a day or two then head to shepton sunday, and just in case will pack my rac card......[:D]

Sounds like it might be fuel related rather than sparks if it was good before you parked it. How long parked up?

Are you sure the HT leads are back in the correct order? 1-3-4-2.

Tend to agree with that. I used to have the problem and now add a litre of Isopropanol 99% alcohol to the tank before the winter layup. When mine was afflicted I drained several pints of water/petrol mix off from the connection to the fuel pump, fuel filter was also very orangy and horrible, then decided to drain the tank to get all I could out. Since then with the Isopropanol added I have not had any problems.

yeah thinking water myself. was the problem with the dhc last yr, was hardly any fuel in the car when parked up so only had 5 litres thrown in it to get it going, changed the filter with a newer one off the dhc, only been on it about a week and intend getting a new one when down the autojumble next week anyway.

car had only bee parked up a few weeks through the heavy rain and all the snow, had planned on using it but could not find the spare time to dig it out....lol.

anyway know it wont be a lot as was running lovely all last year, once i'd sorted out the overheating anyway....[:D]
main job now alan is getting the alternator changed...... on the saab, but it is as you know the vectra based 93 and a major pain to get off, sorely tempted to drop the bloody engine out........[:(!]
wish me luck..........

yes edward, plug leads all back in right order, main reason swapped all the ht parts was because they were put on the dhc about a month before parking up so were free service items for the fhc, just oil and water now and my spreing service complete.......[:D]
