I'm about to remove the rear halfshafts on my 5 speed rear axle to have the bearings replaced. According to the manual once you've undone the four retaining nuts you need a special tool to remove the halfshaft. Has anyone any tips on doing this this without the "special tool" as obviously I don't have one, I assume I may need some kind of puller?

no special tool (slide hammer) needed, just turn brake drum inside out and snug down with lug nuts. tap on edge to remove halfshafts.

Good folks, what I view here and on the link to the 2009 article convinces me even more the four speed, 3.63:1 ratio, rear end assembly is the better one to have.
