My glovebox is locked and I do not have a key, this is my deceased brothers car and I need to get to the owners manual so I can jack the car up, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Greybeard,

A very warm welcome to the forum and a happy new year to you.

I'm sure there is a way of opening the glove box by pushing something into the lock to push down the tab.Are you sure the key is missing it should be the same one that you use on the Boot/trunk?

As for jacking up the car; if you are using the jack that comes with the car, then you will find a stud pointing downwards on the front chassis rail under the foot well.
The rear has the same sort of stud which is located just in front of where the rear axle is mounted to the body.

I would suggest that if you are at home and have access to a trolley jack you could lift the car at the back from the middle of the axle. At the front I normaly place the jack under one of the engine subframe.

I'm sure there will be other suggestions coming to you shortly.

Cheers
Ian

I had that dilemma when I had locked my glove compartment and the locking mechanism broke so the key would not unlock it. There is only one way in, fortunately not that difficult (although I made it so for myself as I started to take out dash (can't go that route). If you pull down on the door it will open just enough to allow something thin (like an Allen wrench) to press down on the nylon latch releasing it. You can then remove the latch and take it into a locksmith so they can make up a key. They may want it disassembled.
