Is it possible to fit the front hubs from an SD1 straight onto the the suspension legs of our TR7/8`s. I am sure the bearings must be bigger, but I thought I would just ask.

Hi,

As far as I know the stub axle on the SD1 has a larger diameter than 'ours' Grinnal fitted the complete SD1 struts, and also you will end up with 5 studs on the front and 4 on the rear unless you fit Grinnal halfshafts or have a set of SD1 halfshafts shortened.

TSI in the states do a set of hubs with larger bearings fitted but heard mix reports on these -

You can fit the entire strut assembly as the taper in the collar that mounts on the ball joint is the same as is the top mounting. This gives you bigger bearings, better brakes and 5-Stud wheel pattern. As mentioned above, you have to have SD1 axles shortened and re-splined to get the 5-Stud pattern on the back, but this gives you a lot more wheel options.

I'm not sure all that effort would really provide you any significant gain.
Or am I missing the point .
Would it not limit your wheel options to sd1 alloys
Or jeep Cherokee alloys
