Hello everyone.Geek alert.
Do any of you wise people know when the last televised advert was made and do you know when the last printed advert was made? Both in the UK and the US.
I know the end of production was a quiet affair and that the car just seemed to vanish due to its reputation but i`d like to see both and know the dates they were shown.

I don't think the TR7 ever had it's own advert on TV in the UK. Even the 1976 British Leyland commercial only had a 2 second clip of LOK569P a yellow FHC. I can't even recollect the DHC on it's launch ever on a TV commercial.

However the car both in FHC and DHC form was still in the Austin Rover brochure for the 1982 print.

Most of the adverts were based in the USA - the main market.
Plenty when launched but faded out in later life [V]

Have a look on Youtube under search TR7 as there is a few & you never know.

Also which you maybe be aware

Front Panel decal should place them in context - TR7 early, Laural wreath mid & round badge at the end

I put the British Leyland cinema commercial from 1978 on the Bullet DVD. I managed to obtain a 35mm print of this and then transferred it, put it on the DVD for all to enjoy and some bxxxxxd promptly ripped it off and put it on the web to get all the plaudits for what wonderful job he'd done. So I won't be doing the same sort of thing with Bullet Reloaded despite having access and permissions to the US adverts.

But the upshot is the 1977 RAC Rally TR7 slides around for a couple of seconds and then we have a couple of shots of the production TR7 amongst all the other models available across the range of British Leyland cars in those days. I was very lucky to get hold of that advert as BMIHT didn't have it. When they heard it was 35mm they couldn't believe any had survived as they only tend to get 16mm prints into their archives.

Thanks for the info.
Looks like BL never really gave the car a chance really did they.
Somehow I suspect it was an unloved child from the start.
Sad to think they had some good cars that could have been winners(TR7,8 SD1,Jaguar xj)that they decided not to build properly or promote.
Management must have been absolutely crap.
