Yes, it was a blue one - and Anders really WANTED a NOS blue one for his ex-Canadian '82 TR8...
And this one was a used black one - but it ended up in Sweden as well. [:D]

Hiya.
I think I might have one of these. How do I identify it as being a Mota Lita? Usually they say Mota Lita on them don't they?

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get one of these wheels recovered to replace the original damaged leather?

nor the TR7/8. AfaIk rumour has it they were made in France (by what's now Lecarra?) for British Leyland
on a bulk order and using the Moto-Lita 9-bolt pattern etc. Rumour also has it Moto-Lita in Britain were
NOT amused... So a genuine steering wheel do not have the stamping, one bought via a Moto-Lita
sourced stock does...

Thanks chaps.
So, it looks like I have an OE 'Mota Lita' style steering wheel - that are referred to as Mota Lita steering wheels? John has a none OE wheel that is actually a Mota Lita wheel?
Have I got that right Odd / John?
So, out of interest what were the blue and black ones that have gone to Sweden?

And the black one is a second hand OE '78 Spitfire 1500,
which when it comes to the steering wheel is the same as a TR7 (or TR8
for that matter) Moto-Lita style wheel.

My 1978 Spitfire has the Moto lita type wheel but the 1976 has an older style wheel.

These later ones have the same upper switchgear'head' as the then TR7, and in mid-1978 they got the
Moto-Lita style wheel as standard fitment. (Which disappeared again after FH130000 in January 1979...)

There's a gentleman by the name of Chris Latham at Passion Restoration Products who refurbishes RS steering wheels I don't know if he will do other makes as well. He refurbishes other car parts as well. The pictures of his work are excellent. He made me some replica dealer number plates for my TR7 which were very good.
Mike.
