Wiper spindle

My drivers side spindle has been worn smooth - can I just replace the spindle and would a P6 spindle be a replacement? It looks like the spindle is held in place by a rivet can I drill it out and replce with a rover p6 one and rivet it back on?

Hmmm - don't know about replacing just the spindle with a P6 one although knowing BL quite possible it is a part common to different models.

New wiper wheel boxes including the spindle are readily available & not too pricey so may be easier just to change to whole thing on that side?

Thanks Tony - from where? Rimmer are out of stock and I have placed a notification for when they are available but need wipers now!!

Rimmers web page shows the used item as available & presumably this would be in decent serviceable condition as well as saving some money

If you want new then James Paddock website shows the part & a good price compared to Rimmers, there is a seller on Ebay under item number 190684829690 including the retaining nut also a good price, other than that try Robsport or S&S Preparations.

Don't forget you will probably need to replace the gaskets as well.

I've recently replaced my driver's side wheel box. I purchased it from the seller on Ebay. Very easy to fit really.
In the Haynes manual it instructs you to remove the drive from the motor but as it was on the opposite end I just unthreaded the wheel box from the drive cable and threaded it back on after.
I greased all the visible drive cable whilst I was at it.
It helps to have another pair of hands though when removing the motor and drive assembly and replacing it.
It struck me whilst I was doing the job, that its lucky that there is still someone manufacturing parts like these.
