Speke - to me

Postby Shauniedawn » 26 May 2012 22:04

Oh dear. Yes - another seems to have found me.

I generally dislike white cars - but this one is strangely doing something for me!

Just got it home today:

Re-fitting the prop after the tow home:

Needs a few jobs doing, but essentially not bad. Needs the sills painting black.

Oh no...not another one. [:0]

Looks in pretty good shape, just have to get that engine bay as pretty as the outside/inside. If the price was right, you could not turn it down.[:p]

Hi,

Welcome to The Speke TR7 Owners Club [8D]

Great looking car, complete with period accessories i.e. the Sparkrite alarm, remember fiiting those back in the day.

If you find a good way of removing the Ziebart under the bonnet [V] let me know.

Cheers John

Get those sills black!!!

It does look good as it is but you'll be amazed how much sleeker the car will look with satin black sills. That was how it was designed and really works.

Reminds me of a White FHC I saw before buying mine in '86. There was so much wrong with it I had to walk away.

Was that Ziebart stuff worth it back in the day? This one doesn't look bad on it.

Not sure what to do at the minute with it. It does have a years MOT so might tax if for a while. But I'll need to do a few jobs first to set my mind at rest.

My other Spekes are in storage at the minute, so having one on the road for a while would be nice.

Needs a couple of localised repair to the inner wing area, so probably won't bother doing anything with the engine bay yet. It'll be much easier just to take the engine and subframe out and set about the black sticky shit at the same time. I'm thinking scrapers, thinners, petrol, degreaser and a stem cleaner if I fan find someone with one.
The sills are lower down the list than the mechanicals, but NEED to be black in time. Likewise the filler work in the door bottoms is pants and needs doing...

Our lass loves the winking headlight pod - offside one does two cycles before staying up. Might leave that for the comedy effect! Needs all that black sticky stuff off to get to and clean all the connections.

Won't be messing on too much with it though as I have a Mini to crack on with and have my Defender on the road for the summer. Not that I get much time for any of that with work and my daughters daily horse riding and dance regime. In fact, am sat in a car park in Leeds for all of the day today - 3 hours down, 4 to go!

Well I like the white sills too but it would just look better with them black. You have to look at the side of the car and imagine how much sleeker it is going to look. I'm very much looking forward to the finished product.

Well done on a good purchase Shaun.
