Hey folks,

Does anyone have a good modern paint code for Carmine Red? I've seen other supposed correct numbers that came out more purple. Looking to avoid that.

If your car is the original color (from factory) most if not all body shops/paint suppliers should have a reader that 'reads' the paint color and provides a very good match/close match.
My local body shop did such on my previous TR8. It was originally gold but someone repainted the car green. I only needed to have one door sprayed, so he used his paint reader to all but exactly match the color. It was so close, only I could see the difference. [8D]

Sorry I don't have the code. I painted my car twice with dupont codes and never got the color right. Would you mind posting the code if you successfully get it right?

Paint fades with time, especially the reds. If you're trying to match existing paint a scanner/reader is your best way to go. If you're going for a total paint job and just want to get close to original and their computer doesn't have Triumph, check under British Leyland or Jaguar as it may be listed under those sections. When I went for Poseidon Green it was listed under Jaguar.

Mine was repainted too and also green.
That will work unless metal flake is added.
Could not get the machine to get thru the flake to the color on mine

Check out the Auto Color Library and look for a 1973 Triumph paint chip:

http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/default.aspx

They can mix different kinds of paint.

Good luck.

Found this.

Dupont code 43019. Mixing formula is below.

IngrdCd Description gram (abs.) gram (cum.)
AM55 LIGHT RED 193.5 193.5
AM64 MAGENTA 112.4 305.9
AM7 BLACK L.S. 38.3 344.1
AM1 WHITE H.S. 12.9 357.1

Will have a test panel shot before I say yes though.
